UK Weekend break recommendations…?

DH is working most of this Christmas and so thought it would be nice to have a treat for the two of us (plus toddler) before he hits the busy season at work!

Looking for recommendations for 2/3 night break in the UK, accommodation ideally with a pool suitable for toddlers, within 3 hours ish of Central Scotland - happy to travel north or south by car or train or take a domestic flight. Anywhere but the Lakes - we both have family there so we are there all the time.

Budget max £1k for hotel / food / experiences.

Any good recommendations???

Ribby Hall perhaps? It’s about 8 miles from Blackpool, so driveable for you. They do baby and toddler holidays aimed at families like yours.

Thanks - will check this out! I know - as much as I love my extended family if we went to a nice hotel in the lakes we would feel obliged to do the family visits etc and would be nice to spend some quality time just us!

Totally get that. Ribby is a good hour from Kendal so far enough away. Guess you could pop in on the fly on the way there or back.

Its not cheap but it is lovely. I’m about half an hour away and I always used to try and get on full day governor training courses there because the lunch was so nice 😀. The thermal spa is very tempting too. Lots of friends have raved about it for short breaks.
