What makes you happy?

What little things in your life make you happy and bring you joy?

I’ll go first -

The first cup of tea in the morning, in bed with a couple of chapters of a good book.

Receiving something unexpected (nice) in the mail.

A hot shower and fresh jammies 💕

A good nights sleep (after many years of poor sleep with autistic DC, I thank the universe for every good nights sleep I have)

Scarves, jumpers, new boots! 👢

Watching my dog charge around the woods without a care in the world, tongue lolling out whatever the weather.

Everyone being out and eating ice cream on the sofa watching trash on TV for a sneaky half hour.

I’m with you over that first cup of tea!
My DC and DGC.
The flowers on my camellia in November - it’s bright pink and really brightens the gloom.
The first snowdrops
The bluetits that come to the nesting box and the robins that live in our garden
Catching up with friends
Finishing a knitting/craft project (especially when it’s for DC or DGC)
Finding an unread book by an author I enjoy
Clean sheets that have dried in the line so they have that “outdoor” smell
When you bake a cake and it’s perfect

There is much in life to be glad about!

Cleared up my garden today. Took absolutely ages cutting stuff back and creating space. Cut the hedge and de-weeded the drive.
Took a cup of tea out into the garden after all my hard work, as the sun was going down, and sat enjoying the silence snd how refreshed everything looked.Boston creeper is turning colour and the Golden Hop in all it’s limely loveliness is in flower.

That made me happy today.

Walking on the beach - sand beneath your toes and following the tide line. Even in chilly weather.

Mycatissohandsome · 23/09/2025 19:42

Days off and nothing to and and nowhere to be - bliss

KelsCommemorativeSausage · 23/09/2025 19:46

Birds. All birds.
How the evening smells.
Coffee on my own.
Pork pie.
My little dog.
Full moon.
Cooking, and reading very old recipe books.
My allotment.

Oh yes I love it when washing has that lovely clean, outdoor smell 😀

Oh yes, I forgot to mention my DCs 🤣 Oops!

More -

The first daffodils of spring
My youngest’s ability to find joy in everything, his dirty laugh, his innocence.
My oldest’s curiosity and intelligence. Whenever my oldest (teenager) lets his guard down and is silly and childlike or wants a cwtch 💕
Cold evenings, heating on, good food, duvets, Netflix 📺

Oh you reminded me - a good cwtsch with my elderly parents - bear hug safety.

Also wood smoke.

A sunny day, sitting in the garden with my dogs
Actually my dogs in general, the simplest things make them happy and that’s so lovely
New shoes or boots
Just chilling with my partner and it being so easy and stress-free after a long, painful, marriage

AmusedCat · 23/09/2025 20:35

A milky coffee in the morning, starting a new book, doing some sewing or knitting whilst watching a good documentary or drama in the afternoon, reading in bed.

Letmeoutodhere · 23/09/2025 20:46

Nature. Birds, flowers, walks. Sunsets.
Hanging washing on the line on a windy sunny day.
New mown grass.
An enthralling book.
Silence.

fruitypancake · 23/09/2025 20:58

Sunshine and happy children

SilverShadowNight · 23/09/2025 21:06

Enjoying a good book.
The smell of fresh, line dried sheets.
Listening to music.
Enjoying a nice view.
A walk in the woods.
Sitting inside in the warm when it is raining heavily or snowing.

Myoldbear · 23/09/2025 21:10

The hour between 9.30 and 10.30am when I feel most alive and motivated.

Isesgirl · 23/09/2025 21:40

Lando Norris

Sunshineandswimming · 23/09/2025 21:46

Holding a child's hand - so soft & warm.
Driving as the day breaks - those pink skies are glorious.
Catching the cathedral bells or the clock chiming.

Mwnci123 · 23/09/2025 21:55

Oh lots of these for me too.
Also, sitting in silence with my kids, each reading new library books, while we wait for lovely food in my favourite cafe.
Riding my bike along a quiet coastal road.
Seeing the children play with their friends.
Just going to bed after making a reasonably good fist of the day.

MyElatedUmberFinch · 23/09/2025 22:07

Seeing my three adult DC together.

Looking at my cat

Swimming

A good film at the cinema

Meeting a friend

Going on holiday especially if it’s somewhere new

Clean bedding
