According to Facebook, there was a shady looking man and a 'bully type' dog skulking around my neighbourhood at 6am this morning....

..... It turned out to be DH walking our ancient staffie crossbreed.

😂😂😂😂😂

This isn't the first time it's happened either. DH has a bit of a menacing look about him and is always in a tracksuit. But still. Poor DH. And poor pooch.

Hahaha! That's so funny 😂- how did you find out it was your husband? Did someone post a pic of this scary man?

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/09/2025 12:58

OP, you could have so much fun with this!!

DodgyGeeza · 23/09/2025 12:59

Yep, there was doorbell footage.

I opened the full post expecting to be confronted by video of a young 20-something ne'er-do-well casing people's front gardens. But no. It was 40-year old DH just ambling past this person's house with the dog 😂

My local Facebook page had a photo of a suspicious looking man going up and down people’s driveways. It was the local newsagent delivering papers.

SummerFrog25 · 23/09/2025 13:03

Maybe him & your dog need to upgrade their 'style'?

Top hats & bow ties would do it.

Orangepate · 23/09/2025 13:04

I remember one of the Mums at the school disco looking askance at the tatty old man sat at one of the tables, saying he was interacting with the children and she wasn’t comfortable and asking me ( as head of the PTA) to ask him to leave. It was my Dad, in the final stages of bowel cancer, bless him

imnottoofussed · 23/09/2025 13:05

I keep expecting pictures of me and adult dd attempting to steal a cat on our local group. We’re not actually stealing cats but we always stop to take photos and stroke any cat when we go out walking. This is just the type of thing our local groups post but it’s mainly refugees they accuse of trying to steal pets.

underseige05 · 23/09/2025 13:06

Similar thing happened to my dad years ago. He happened to work as an engineer at a popcorn factory and got free bags of microwave popcorn. He would get home at 6.30am and would pop them in the porch of our neighbours who had kids.
He was described as a young Mediterranean man acting very suspiciously up and down all the drivewaysGrin young he was not but he was very tanned from a 2 week holiday Grin

DodgyGeeza · 23/09/2025 13:08

Your poor dad @Orangepate I hope he saw the funny side?

I think your husband should get a pink tracksuit and the dog should wear a pink tutu as a social experiment and see if he gets reported by the idiot curtain twitchers again!

pteromum · 23/09/2025 13:13

Oh gosh this reminds me of when the police were called on my poor dad.

he worked for a local group delivering mobility equipment to those who needed it, eg post surgery or elderly.

he was sent one day to collect items from a lady who was in hospital and being moved to a car home.

her young nephew let him in as he was visiting. Neighbours called the police, police arrive, terrify the life out of my poor dad and the young lad.

excellent neighbourhood watch but gave him a scare!

To be fair to the other Mum she was mortified and I was very kind to her, but it was a bit upsetting. He was an unsavoury sight at the end but the kindest man ever and children adored him.

DodgyGeeza · 23/09/2025 13:21

@Orangepate Ah, he sounds lovely and I'm sure the kids didn't give a hoot about how unsavoury he looked 😊

@TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams I haven't responded. I never post in this group because its full of absolute crackpots.

This is so funny. My DH also has a menacing look and our dog is a patterdale terrier.

We had a similar situation, new neighbours in the street told our next door neighbours they'd seen a drug dealer type with a rough looking black dog outside their house at 11pm marking their wall.

Turns out it was DH walking our small black scruffy terrier who needed a late night toilet walk, and the marking the wall was DH bending down to pick up and bag the poo!

I wish they'd posted it on facebook 😂

That's brilliant! Poor H and dog

Seeyouincourtyoufool · 23/09/2025 13:32

We had this. 3 'youths' with their hoods up walking down the road looking very dodgy. It was DS and two of his mates, mid December so hoods up and on their way to college. I told Barbara to calm down a bit.

Seeyouincourtyoufool · 23/09/2025 13:34

Another one where there was some dodgy looking bloke 'loitering' around and sitting on somebodies wall, it was was just some geezer delivering leaflets and having a little rest.

Problem is it whips people into a frenzy on curtain twitching!

Gliblet · 23/09/2025 13:37

My parents' village FB group is a bit like this - lots of lovely wholesome 'does anyone want some apples from my tree' posts but also a constant stream of
10.14 WHITE VAN driven by a likely ne'erdowell slowed down as it passed my driveway and the driver LOOKED AT MY HOUSE!!! Clearly up to no good. Lock all doors and windows. Be aware!'
10.17 Never mind, it was my Amazon order

TheGirlWhoWantedToBeGod · 23/09/2025 13:37

In our local Facebook group people also have the uncanny ability to know someone’s nationality or ethnicity at a glance.

If your husband was in our neighbourhood they’d immediately have known he was Albanian/Bulgarian/insert nationality of choice here.

RaspberryFeet · 23/09/2025 13:40

Mine has footage of a woman ringing a doorbell and the occupant not answering because she looks suspicious.

Turns out it was the nursery teacher on a home visit!

spoonbillstretford · 23/09/2025 13:40

Someone who lives near me in a road I know well posted a doorbell video of a "suspicious woman" coming up her drive, having a quick look at the house and walking away again without ringing the doorbell.

I pointed out in the comments that maybe as you can't see the house numbers clearly from the road, particularly not in dark or gloomy conditions, she had come to have a look at the number. It wasn't me on the camera but it could well have been as I've had to do the same myself when dropping DDs off before now. Display your house numbers clearly if you don't want random people walking down your drive! There were all sorts of hysterical comments before mine.

DodgyGeeza · 23/09/2025 13:42

The group's an absolute hotbed of curtain twitching hysteria.

That's why I love it.
