Uber app safe?

I’m going away in this country soon and I think having the uber app might be handy, rather than having to find a local taxi firms number.
When I looked at putting it on my phone some time ago I was concerned at having to leave your bank details on the app permanently, as I don’t leave mine on anything. Is it a problem, has anyone had money taken that they shouldn’t have had? Thanks

I've used it in many countries and have never had a problem or even an issue with anything like cars not turning up etc. It's great.

A long time ago my Uber account was hacked and someone started charging their rides to my account. Uber were very good and sorted it out and it's not happened since.

Check before you go that the place you’re going to actually has uber!

I've never had any issues with money being taken. And when I have had a payment query they've always refunded straight away no hassle. It's definitely worth having

I link Uber to my PayPal account

You could set up a separate bank account for such apps if you were worried, and just top up as necessary.

Never had an issue, but why would you give them your bank details instead of using a credit card?

I don’t have a credit card, only account cards

You need a credit card as it affords protection that other means of payment don’t offer.

Having a CC doesn’t mean taking on debt if you pay it off each month.
