What do 10yo girls like for birthday gifts?

I’m completely at a loss. All the supposedly “cool” stuff costs as much as I’d spend on an 18yo. I’m just not prepared to spend the equivalent of £50/60 on a hoodie for a 10yo classmate. And I absolutely will not go down the Sephora gift card/ skincare road (not least because this girl is more into climbing trees than caring for her already-flawless skin). I’ve given her books/gift cards for a few years, all the jewelry-making and boba-making kits etc, and she has an Owala water bottle. Is there anything I’m missing?

something to hang/place in her room? (novelty light, string lights, message board, cute pillow, nice blanket); lego (doesn't have to be girly lego, can also be technic lego); if she likes playing outside: a ball/Frisbee/watershooter? A nice notebook + pencil?

Not sure if these are still cool, but I'd go for a few smaller, less expensive items like Carmex flavoured lip balms, Japanese snacks/sweets/stationary, Lush bath bombs. Keyrings or badges for her school bag relating to something she likes. Art supplies if she's creative? I agree a £50 hoodie is a totally unrealistic expectation as a gift for a classmate!

Just been through a load of 10 year old parties! Craft stuff like diamond painting, stationery like lockable notebooks and sparkly pens, cinema voucher or book voucher or smiggle stuff. Tbh we got a lot of cash in a card and sweets.

At 10, mine wanted Harry Potter Lego, Goalie Gloves, and fairy lights, cushions, blankets etc for her room

I assume this is for a birthday party, not your own dd. At 10, unless your dd can name a specific item the friend really would love, cash in a card. Mine both love cash. The actual presents are fun to open and they interest them for a day, but they love the anticipation of saving up for something they really want and then going on a shopping trip to buy it.
