Question about learner driver and insurance

My DP is learning to drive so I’ve added him on to my insurance, obviously specifying he only has a provisional. We’re planning to go out in the car tomorrow.
But, my new insurance quote has only gone up a couple of quid per month. Is that right? I thought it’d be far more than that, and now I’m worried I’ve somehow done it wrong and he’s not actually covered to be driving my car?

Adding DD at 17 didn’t change much. Around £20 per month. Now she’s passed it is stupidly higher! £2300 with a black box on her own car as she can’t be added to mind now 🫣

It’s because he is supervised. Once he has passed his test and can drive independently it will sky rocket.
