Bit of tooth has broken off

As above. But the bit that has broken off now just exposes dental amalgam which is really visible, I’m not in pain currently but the edge is sharp. Will they be able to do anything to salvage it?

Mine drilled out the old filling, refilled it and built it up. Looks great. NHS but paid an extra £100 for the white filling.

Thank you! This is really reassuring as im hoping this is what they’ll do 🤞

This is what I’m hoping! But I’m worried they won’t be able to do it because there’s a black filling there at the moment? I’m not really sure how it works. I just hate how much I can see the black filling right now

I too had a black amalgam filling. That was removed and the whole thing replaced with the composite. I was amazed, thought I'd lose the tooth.

Thank you for the reassurance I’m grateful. Will ring this morning and see what they sayb

I have just been through this - part of a molar fell off. It was cracked anyway, and my dentist advised that might happen about 10 years ago, so long ago he's now retired and I had to have a new dentist (same practice). They drilled it down, removing part of the tooth and part of the filling, and fitted a cap. 2 appointments, one to take impressions, drill the surface off and put on a temporary cap, and the second 2-3 weeks later to fit the cap

I think the sensible thing would be to ask your dentist.

Thank Goodness! Hope it all goes well. The wallet emptying is usually the most painful part. 😅
