Drinking and weeing and sleeping..

Not all at the same time!! Sometimes when I used to go out for drinks, at some point in the evening I’d go to the toilet. It didn’t matter how many drinks I’d had before going to the toilet, but once I’d gone, that was it - it was like setting something off where after every additional drink, I’d need the toilet again. I assumed this was slightly annoying, but normal. Is there a name for that?

I’ve got it tonight - only without bloody drinking! I needed an early night, went to the loo beforehand, lay down in bed, needed the loo again very shortly, went again, lay back down and briefly dozed off to need yet another wee! I’ve now realised I’ve been getting up several times a night for weeks now. I’m not drinking anything in my sleep!

You've "broken the seal" I'm afraid. I think the only thing to do is sleep in a box of rice.

Broken the seal! Thank you! I’m awake now so off to fill bathtub with rice!! 😀

It’s the FFP
Fist Fatal Piss
someone told me that 23 years ago and it’s stuck with me

KnickerlessParsons · 16/09/2025 23:12

We called it “releasing the seal”, but same thing. I can hold it for ages, but once you go that’s it. You have to keep going.

Gabbycat245 · 16/09/2025 23:14

I agree with FFP, but if it's now happening when you're not drinking, I would see the GP. It can be a sign of diabetes.

JDM625 · 16/09/2025 23:15

I also know is as 'breaking the seal' but only in reference to drinking alcohol.

If you haven't been drinking and are going more often than normal, it could be many things. UTI, thyroid issues, diabetes, a deficiency, prolapse and all sorts. Worth getting it checked to rule more serious things out.

Weeinglikeivehadaskinful · 16/09/2025 23:41

Maybe I do need to get it checked. I have upped my water intake a lot during the day, but that precedes the nightly wee-athon. I’m now wide awake, half-watching scream 2, half chatting with husband about most memorable outfits we saw clubbing and definitely not needing a wee.

Please see your GP and get checked out for diabetes.

Wasywasydoodah · 17/09/2025 00:02

I’m not saying don’t get checked, but if you’ve upped your drinking water in the day, it’s got to come out at some point…

Weeinglikeivehadaskinful · 17/09/2025 00:35

Water intake has been well over a year now (that and have more salt is the extent of treatment I’ve had over the last few years, despite various life changing diagnoses and a zillion soul-destroying appointments - steer clear of long covid folks, it’s an absolute fucker of a thing). I’ll get it checked out, even though I don’t want to!
