Small but significant wins

I’ve name changed for this, as the last time I posted on the topic I got some very unkind responses, plus armchair diagnoses of hoarding (which is actually quite different to the issue I have).

I've got into a really bad state with my housework. It’s been depressing me and I know I really need to tackle it. Anyway, today was bin day, so last night I took a black bag to my bedroom and promised myself I was not going downstairs until it was full. And I actually did it. It’s only the beginning, but it IS a beginning. I’m ashamed there was enough junk in my bedroom to fill a bin bag, but I’m proud that I didn’t get bogged down with that (thinking it was too daunting to bother). So yes, a small win, but a significant one.

Not sure what I really want from this thread other than to say it out loud - it’s not something I’m comfortable discussing in real life. Please feel free to share your SBS wins!

Well done. That’s one whole bin bag less and it’s a start.

Well done you OP.

I think doing things in small but steady stages is the way to tackle things.

I'm sorry you got unkind responses on your previous thread. I do think a lot of posters on MN seem to take housework very seriously.

I 've got a lot of " stuff" in my house and I would dearly love to have a clear out. Unfortunately most of the things I would like to get rid of are things my son is keen for me to keep. He hasn't even lived with me for 9 years but my house is obviously bigger than his one bedroom flat so it's sort of the " overflow" for his. I'm going to have to put my foot down.

Anyway well done to you OP for making a start on sorting things out.

Well done, that's a great start. It can become overwhelming but breaking it down into small steps makes it more achievable.

Today at work I finally made a proper start on a report I've needed to write for about 2 months. I've been gathering information, jotting down bullet points etc but the proper writing got going today.
