Who else has the heating on already?

It’s been blowing a gale all day, it’s now foggy and dank. Got my oodie on and the heating is doing good things. A few weeks ago I was melting in a heatwave and now this!

Where are you?
It was really windy here today but temp was still 19, so definitely no heating yet!

50Balesofgrey · 15/09/2025 22:43

I've also lit a fire. My cat is delighted

helpfulperson · 15/09/2025 22:44

I've had mine on for weeks otherwise my house doesn't reach 20 degrees and I refuse to work in colder.

PoppySaidYesIKnow · 15/09/2025 22:48

It’s on low for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening.

MrsPengiuins · 15/09/2025 22:50

Had one heater on here but just for the cat.

Shortdaysalready · 15/09/2025 22:58

Pretty wet and windy weather here the past few days but I'm still sat here tonight with no heating and the living room windows open on the crack. The room thermostat is showing 18° and it's comfortable. I do have a throw over my knees though.

Fraudornot · 15/09/2025 22:59

Yeah - I always used to hold out until October but realised a few years ago that life is too short to be cold and being cost is one of life’s pleasures

FlouFlou · 15/09/2025 23:05

Had it on since 1 Sep!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 15/09/2025 23:05

Blimey no, it’s currently 21 degrees downstairs according to Hive. Was warmer earlier, had a fan on.

Macaroni46 · 15/09/2025 23:06

Mine is on in the evenings. Refuse to be cold. ExH never put the heating on so after years of shivering, I prioritise a warm house over anything else.

SummerFrog25 · 15/09/2025 23:09

Not yet, but did think about it a couple of days ago. But put a sweater on instead 🤣 but I wouldn't hesitate to put it on if I wanted to.

I have an OT coming tomorrow morning & will put it on if it's a chilly morning . Where she sits is right next to one of the radiators so I'll turn it off if she's too warm & when she leaves as im out for a few hours after that anyway.

can't believe last time she was here we had all the windows open & the fans on, drinking iced water!

its changed so quickly this year.

Good on you!

I wouldn't be sitting shivering either!!

JDM625 · 15/09/2025 23:16

I'm South East and no heating is on. Other than today when we've had strong winds, the bifolds have been open every day. I did have a jumper on a few days ago, but otherwise have been living in a nightie or linen trousers and blouse in the house.

CrazyCatMam · 15/09/2025 23:19

I’ve been giving it a quick blast a couple of times a day, but it goes from chilly to stuffy very quickly.

We’re in the NE of Scotland. Feels like we’ve had months of sunshine this year.

mummybearSW19 · 15/09/2025 23:26

I don’t. But I wish I had. Am wearing a jumper!!
DH is the type who wants to leave it off until Halloween.👻 🎃
🤦‍♀️

we shall see how long i last this autumn!!!

DrCoconut · 15/09/2025 23:30

A little bit. I am already fed up with the cold, the rain and the dark nights. It's so depressing.

VivienneDelacroix · 15/09/2025 23:31

Yes, I put it on yesterday to come on for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening.

juldan · 15/09/2025 23:44

I had mine on for short while yesterday to test it as last year I had problems as soon as the heating season started.
Then I had to put it on for 30 minutes this morning because I have a lot of washing which isn’t drying well. Will do the same tomorrow morning as I am worried about the mould.

User28473 · 16/09/2025 00:05

DH suggested it earlier and I asked him if he'd lost his mind, it's only September. Then a few hours later when I couldn't warm up I regretted my response. The 'feels like' temp is currently 6°. I've never known autumn start so dramatically with no build up, but at least we had a good summer.

angelcake20 · 16/09/2025 02:06

We don’t turn ours off and I genuinely don’t understand why people do. The date on the calendar is irrelevant; only the temperature matters. We’re fairly stingy with the temperature on the thermostat. It's come on a couple of times in the last few days, though not for very long.

LazySunbedDays · 16/09/2025 02:39

Tonight turned the thermostat up after a cold and soggy dog walk… ended up sitting in pj bottoms and a vest top as was too hot (poorly placed thermostat!) felt very indulgent and I’m not sorry but it’s turned back down again!

EggyBreads · 16/09/2025 09:14

I had my wood burner on last night. First time this autumn. I can’t abide being cold though.

Woodworm2020 · 16/09/2025 09:16

Yeah - but we are up in Scotland and live in an old house. 😬😬

Same. I'm in the North West. It's forecast 20° for the next few days (along with ongoing downpours). I won't have the heating on until December at least. I can't bear central heating. I much prefer hot water bottles and blankets.
