Anyone want to try and guess what it is in my ocado trolley that's excluded from a discount voucher?

(Starting with a disclaimer: please don't judge our overall diet on this trolley, I'm stocking up on some things that are on offer or unavailable elsewhere to take maximum advantage of the voucher and will be visiting Lidl and the veg shop later for proper shopping!).

But I can't work it out and neither could the customer live chat advisor!

I've been emailed a 25% off voucher, valid on a spend over £70 with max discount £18.

My trolley comes to £70.20 but the discount code is only taking off £11.24. That's definitely not 25% - it should be taking off £17.55.

3l tin of extra virgin olive oil
Vegan mozzarella
Vegan fake salmon fillets
Graze snack bars
Flora vegan smoked garlic "butter"
Oatly cream
Vegan bacon lardons
Itsu chick'n ramen noodles
Spiced orange ginger ale (non alcoholic)

That's it Confused

First the adviser said it was the ginger ale, but that doesn't account for the full missing discount (they cost £4.70 so would only account for about £1 of it). Then she said actually the ginger ale is eligible for discount so she had no idea and to just check out and come back to customer services for a refund of the mystery missing discount after delivery.

Any ideas...?

Has to be the 3l of olive oil. You are missing roughly £6 and I guess that it the most likely item to cost around £24 these days.

My guess would be that the voucher is for discount off full price items only and some of your shopping already has discounts on.

Oo I was going to say the olive oil but then I reckon the second poster has it! No discount off already discounted items.

But the voucher doesn't say discounted items are excluded and the customer service advisor said they would be. The voucher emails lists the excluded items (the usual stuff, alcohol, baby formula, household items etc) and even if it wasn't valid on discounted items the maths still don't work. I think there's only two full price items in there!

I thought perhaps the 3l of olive oil but it's £27 so that can't be it either, it's close but not exactly the right amount.

So the voucher was applied to only £44.96 of the basket.
The ginger ale alone (£4.70) wouldn’t explain the whole gap.

Yeah that's what I told the advisor when she confidently said it was the ginger ale. She went quiet for a few minutes then came back and said I was right and that she had no idea why it wasn't working.

None of it was essential stuff 😂 so I just won't bother with the order at all if I can't get it to work, I'm just really baffled by why it's not adding up and wondering what to change to get it to work!

Ooh, that's annoying. I only shop at Ocado when I can really pile up the discounts so just about everything I buy from them is on offer. I'm also still in the introductory period when delivery is free.

Last time I ordered, I got £20 a shop of £60 or more, free delivery and they knocked another £20 off because they cancelled my first order, plus everything I bought was on offer.

They have a limit on the number of any type of promotional items so have you bought loads of anything on your list? That might have upset the calculations.

No, the most I've got of any one thing is 3 (and that's the cheapest item in the trolley too).
