When did your DD drop her nap?

My boys were about 3 but my DD isn’t even 2.5 and I’m concerned she might be dropping her nap!

DD1 4.5yo - even when she didn't sleep she still liked a couple of hours to play quietly in her room
Dd2 about 18 months
Ds about 2.5yo, but still had them when ill (fairly frequent through winter) until about 6yo.

Age 4

Before 1.5 really. Went to nursery a couple months before 2 and she wasn’t napping

My 4yo son napped every day until 3.5, and still does given half a chance

My daughter, 2y 3m, appears to be in the process of dropping her nap! Will miss every third day or so quite happily. I’m surprised as she napped loads more as a little baby!

Bitzee · 14/09/2025 14:51

Stopped consistently napping at just over 3 because school nursery didn’t offer naps but she still napped ad hoc, sometimes just in the reading corner or in the pram on the way home until almost 4.

ComfortFoodCafe · 14/09/2025 14:55

Both my sons dropped them at the age of two, gender doesnt matter.

RidingMyBike · 14/09/2025 14:56

Four. From about 2.5 she didn’t nap every day, dropping them at nursery first (they napped them 12-2, whereas we did 2-4 at home). Until 3.5 she napped every day she was at home (four days per week), then gradually dropped to alternate days, then once a week.

We left it up to her by then, introducing a quieter time when she could play quietly in her room, look at a book or nap.

My dc3 stopped at 20 months as she wanted to carry on playing with dc1 and dc2!! That felt too young but she always got through the day without being too grumpy and just had a slightly earlier bedtime for a while.

Dc1 and 2 were much older and were the opposite. We had to start restricting it around they were 2.5 /3 when it interfered with bedtime too much. They also dropped it on intermittent days before it stopped completely.

Eeyorefan · 14/09/2025 14:57

12 months at home, think napping continued at nursery due to nothing more interesting to do.

dizzydizzydizzy · 14/09/2025 15:33

DC1 - roughly 2 years and 3 or 4 months
DC2 - 9 months(!) turned out to have ADHD.

user2848502016 · 14/09/2025 15:35

Both mine were younger than 2.5

mrssunshinexxx · 14/09/2025 17:58

2.5 and bang on 2

Teachingagain · 14/09/2025 17:59

Both around 2

Stripybasket · 14/09/2025 19:56

Wow so a real range of ages. Will have to wait and see I guess.

Just turned 2 for all 3 DC.

Andnowshesapreschooler · 14/09/2025 20:24

My daughter is 3 and still naps only in her cot though so never at nursery in the car or the very occasional use of pushchair.

MyAcornWood · 14/09/2025 20:26

I don’t think gender really matters. My son was just shy of his second birthday.

blankcanvas3 · 14/09/2025 20:39

2.5, though shes 3 now and will very occasionally have a little sleep in the afternoon if we have had a particularly busy morning
