At peace now after a troubled few years. My sympathy to his family.

He was only 46.

so sad for his family.

Flomingho · 14/09/2025 12:33

Sad news. Far too young. Thoughts are with his family.

Dartmoorcheffy · 14/09/2025 12:36

Sadly he has had substance addictions and suffered with mental health issues for many years but always came across as a nice bloke.

What a tragic waste

DiscoBob · 14/09/2025 12:40

Gawd. 46. 😞❤️
He had a very rollercoaster lifestyle. Like many boxers. Intense training and deprivation then periods of huge excess. It takes its toll.

RIP. Thoughts to his family and friends. X

Thanks, maybe because he was dating Claire Sweeney at one point I thought he was ages with her.
Didn't expect to read that this morning.

Gettingbysomehow · 14/09/2025 12:41

It's what boxing does to people.

GameOfJones · 14/09/2025 12:47

I was shocked about him being 46.....in my mind he seemed older. That really is no age.

DeeKitch · 14/09/2025 12:49

So sad

I'm not a fan of boxing (or any sport to be honest) but its so sad when someone dies so young

Highfivemum · 14/09/2025 13:02

So sad. He was a really lovely guy. Heartbreaking to hear the news

Pedallleur · 14/09/2025 13:05

Quite shocked at that. He and Claire were a surprise item. 46??? Thought he was older than that

QuoteOfTheDay · 14/09/2025 13:43

I've never really been into to boxing but ended up watching a documentary about him. It was really moving. And, if i remember correctly, he was ripped off and used by many around him (including his own parents). Throughout, he came across as a really nice guy. RIP

So sad to hear about the passing of Ricky Hatton.
He was a warrior who gave his all to his sport. I loved watching him box.
He never hid behind his demons and talked openly of his struggles with substance abuse and mental health.
Taken far, far too soon.RIP Ricky 💔

notacooldad · 14/09/2025 15:35

It is very sad news.
He had a history of depression and the demons followed him
Just awful.

It's what boxing does to people
Im not sure it was necessarily the boxing that was the problem.

brip · 14/09/2025 16:22

gosh, he was so young.
I had no idea he’d struggled with addiction and poor mental health.
