Mirtazapine causing hallucinations

I wasn't sure where to post this.

A relative is on these tablets alongside a cocktail of others. She's diabetic and is on some hormone treatment (tablets) before having a lumpectomy for breast cancer as well.

She sees zoo animals in her garden regularly. I was at her house at teatime and she pointed out to me a 6 foot tall cat wearing a bob hat in the front room. There are monks in the bedroom. There's also been a full football game in the back garden.

She knows they're not there in reality and doesn't have dementia.

Has anyone any experience with this medication? Thank you!

I have, I took one one night and was severely hallucinating, never taken another since

Really? Is this a known side effect? I'm on a very low dose but might explain hearing someone say hello to me when I was alone. It was as clear as anything
