Looking for inspiration please. I have a large cupboard that I would like to revamp over the dark winter nights to make it more practical and useful. Think it's around 5ft by 3ft. At the moment it's basically a dumping ground for extra kitchen bits, hanging up jackets, hoover, cleaning bits and the tumble dryer.

Thanks mumsnet

Mine is exactly how you describe yours but it’s an organised dumping ground 😂 I do have a print on the wall and some fake flowers in there to add some colour!

Oh you have just reminded me that on the walls, I have a frame with old concert tickets etc in it. So maybe I should just fling in a vase of flowers, shut the door and ta da it's done 🤣

I think if you are asking for photos then you need to start the ball rolling

This is mine when it had just been done and was tidy 😂 We now have a washer and a dryer at either side of the cupboard on the left. We also have our air fryer and microwave in the utility room now (as well as a whole host of shite, it definitely no longer looks like this!)

Oh @WickWood that's so spacious you could get loads in that room.

Thats a lovely lot of space OP. Ours is 16 by 5 so we have wall units top and bottom along one side, washing machine out there, butler sink, we have a wall hanging rack (for drying) and then front to back we have a 3 line washing line. In valuable

Along the other side we have wall shelving but only from around 1.3mts up from the ground, if that makes sense as its easier then to wheel things through from the back garden to the front. It has doors at either end. Then a fridge freezer

Its full of crap. Shelving full of tools that are NEVER used, will NEVER be used, have NEVER been used. But you know, apparently they have to be kept.

So in your cupboard OP, where are you going to put the things that are there now to make space? I would put shelving definitely and have it as a mixture of pantry for stored foods and then also what about kitchen equipment that you need but is difficult to store like slow cooker or heavy casserole dishes or bread maker type things (obviously whatever applies). Or sewing machine or hobby eqipment? Can you hang things from the ceiling?

My utility room is 5ft by 8ft. I’m halfway through clearing it out and getting new flooring as it’s long overdue. It has a sink and drainer with cupboards underneath. I also have the washing machine and tumble dryer side by side. Four wall mounted cupboards and a work top running across the appliances. There is also a big ones storage unit with 12 of the boxes filled with school shoes / trainers / wellies/ winter hats scarves and gloves / summer hats/ other shit.
The wall mounted cupboards contain pet food in one, medicines and first aid kit , sun cream etc and the other one has specialist cleaning things like silver polish, grout cleaner, carpet shampoo. I keep the other regular cleaning things under the sink. There is also an area for the cats and dog to be fed. I have a vertical coat rack and a “normal “ coat rack on the free wall. The vertical one is for school bags / swim bags.
I also have a freestanding wine rack type thing for bottles of squash / water/ fizzy drinks rather than leave them in the kitchen where the locusts would go through them too quickly.
it makes me sound organised but in reality my kitchen although a good size with plenty of workspace and cupboards is still a cluttered mess.
if I didn’t have the utility I think I would either be in prison or have had a nervous breakdown as at least I can shut the door on all the crap at the end of the day.

@soupyspoon I am planning on pulling everything out and starting from scratch with a completely empty room. I definitely need storage and shelves for things like the bread maker etc. It is a good size cupboard I just need to maximise its potential.

@myfitbitisfucked thanks, yours definitely sounds organised.
