Modern grey paint colours

DS wants his room painted grey - this makes me think of the late 00’s

So am looking to find a colour which could reasonably be described as “grey” but feel more current.

Please send me ideas 🙏🙏🙏

Just let him chose the color he wants / it’s not your space and he doesn’t have to follow fashion

Maybe a flick through the F&B grey page and get it coloured matched somewhere if there’s one he likes. Does the fact the grey is not current bother your DS? Because if it’s his room, he likes the colour and you were going to have it painted anyway, then I’d let him pick the colour. But then I remember being a child and told I could pick my bedroom colour and when I decided being told ‘actually not that one’.

Unhelpful.

Could you look for a blue grey? Something from this palette could work (scroll down).

I agree with you. I gave in to my DS request for grey and it looks like some sort of waiting room in purgatory. The minute he leaves for uni I’m painting over it!

Waiting room in purgatory - I love it, this sums up exactly how I feel about grey rooms @MayaPinion
In my son’s room we have used seldom seen by crown, which is about as light a grey as we could get away with, it definitely still looks grey but is not at all dark. It’s worked out as quite a good compromise between us.

Why is MN so anti grey! My DD recently moved, both kids boy 14, girl 15 chose different shades of grey for their rooms.. I wanted our whole walls white DH didn't agree,so white everywhere apart from the living room which is....palest grey!

Dulux Goose Down is nice. Coastal Grey also looks nice a Bluey/grey, use trade paint it’s way better.

F&B Elephants Breath is my favourite. Dulux Pebble is another option.

We recently re-decorated our house using F&B paints and I love them but I wouldn’t use in young children’s room as it marks so easily.

He’s a teen. But agreed. Will get a colour match.
