Can I ask a question about 2nd Amendment Rights?

I understand (as well as a non American can) the reasons behind the amendment and why many Americans are wedded to it. What I’d like to know is whether anyone can point to something good that has stemmed from it. Just that really.

For me, the Second Amendment was of its time. In the context of the late 1700s it most certainly did a lot of good, if that’s your metric. There was no “standing militia” and the Founding Fathers were wary of concentrated power anyway. So it was a necessary part of establishing the fundamental rights of men, that they can defend themselves.
