Dread to think what's been uncovered...he wasn't once labelled 'the prince of darkness' for nothing.

Machiavellian individual.

I think he's been sacked hasn't he?

Fleetheart · 11/09/2025 13:58

yeah he was always a funny one wasn’t he. I was surprised to see him
back in the game and of course it was because he got on well with Trump. And now we see one reason they were close.

Mischance · 11/09/2025 14:01

An unfortunate error of judgement on the part of Starmer. Let us hope this is the last we hear of this dreadful man and he finally sinks without trace.

I can see that Starmer might have thought he would appeal to Trump, but really anyone who might appeal to Trump is not someone I would want to represent me or my country.

IdaGlossop · 11/09/2025 14:02

It was a high risk appointment. Angela Rayner last week, Peter Mandelson this. Things always come in threes, according to my mum. Who will be next?

LidlAmaretto · 11/09/2025 14:02

He has. I just don't understand why Starmer said he had full confidence in him when he must have known the shit was going to hit the fan?
And why was Mandleson, the matter of v spin so blind to Epstein? Andrew is a credulous dimwitted moron so easily manipulated and flattered, Trump, Clinton and the rest are sexually incontinent to say the least, but a highly intelligent gay man? Why not only bother with Epstein but defend him after he was convicted of sex trafficking?

ArmySurplusHamster · 11/09/2025 14:10

‘Shit-weasel shall speak untruth unto shit-weasel’: he was perfectly suited to the post.

😂

pizzaHeart · 11/09/2025 16:13

He was sacked of course but now all this has raised lots of questions how on earth he was appointed on the first place with all his baggage.
I wonder if Peter Mandelson might become Keir Stamer’s Chris Pincher.

Westfacing · 11/09/2025 16:23

I've long lost faith in Starmer but do think Mandelson was an inspired appointment to DC - just the sort of oleaginous operator who would schmooze along with Trump.

As an aside, it's a good job that Royals can't be sacked for sending supporting messages to paedophiles, as did Prince Charles to the disgraced Bishop of Gloucester. From the BBC website:

In a letter to Ball in 1995, the prince said: "I wish I could do more. I feel so desperately strong about the monstrous wrongs that have been done to you."

CherryRipe1 · 11/09/2025 16:27

I've always found him odious and creepy. Got bad vibes from him & not because he's gay.

Pedallleur · 11/09/2025 18:22

Nothings been uncovered it's just the emails/messages weren't really public. But I presume he mentioned all this before he got appointed to Washington. Was an EU Commissioner for years so has lived well. Well known for his love of rich people/trappings etc. Must have been waiting for it all to come out. He won't retire to poverty.

Me too.
I couldn’t understand why there wasn’t an outcry against his appointment as UK Ambassador to the US.

MorphandMindy · 11/09/2025 18:29

I've heard it said that Starmer wanted him out of the way and not causing trouble in UK.

With the chaos of the current administration, he probably thought that any bad behavior would pale into insignificance over there and be out of the public eye here.

Now here comes Mandelson back again like a bad penny...

soupyspoon · 11/09/2025 18:32

Whats he done?

Pedallleur · 11/09/2025 18:38

soupyspoon · 11/09/2025 18:32

Whats he done?

Been sacked twice in the Blair days and now sacked again due to his friendship/support to Epstein. Like Boris, seems to land on his feet. Unlike Boris, Mandelson is clever but seemingly is seduced by money/influence and has poor judgement. Like Boris then!!

WildCherryBlossom · 11/09/2025 18:40

@soupyspoon the full details haven’t been released. I would love to know. Nevertheless it’s to do with his long term friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. More details have emerged, apparently, so Starmer sacked him. Must be pretty bad, not even afforded the dignity of resigning. But how on earth did he get the job in the first place? That is a man who knows where the bodies are buried.

EstherGreenwood63 · 11/09/2025 18:41

Oleaginous is the perfect word. Creepy man.

Pedallleur · 11/09/2025 18:44

What messages have been released are him supporting Epstein before the 2008 case and stressing their friendship. Plus a trip or two to the island where men of influence could perhaps take their pleasure without fear of the hoi polloi judging them.

Reeves lol

Reeves lol

No, no, no. 'The Chancellor and I are in lockstep.' And he's scared of bond yields increasing. Two good reasons for it being her on current form.

Theyreeatingthedogs · 11/09/2025 23:23

He is obviously complicit with Trump in nefarious dealings with Epstein. He didn't get away with his past but I'm sure the orange monster will.
