With 9/11 approaching tomorrow I’m thinking about a thought I’ve had since the grenfell documentary came out.
We see and hear with lockdown procedures in schools/workplaces, in documentaries about Grenfell and 9/11 - people being told to stay put and how people could’ve been saved had they not listened to advice on so many of those occasions. I’m not putting blame on victims by saying this, we expect that people who are responsible for our safety know best.

but have any of these events or any other events changed your mind on listening to those higher authorities? I feel like now in a situation I would adopt the mentality of IF I can get out, then i will.

I say all this NOT because I think I know better than all of those victims but because of how they were failed in being told stay put.

Yes since 9/11 and more recently Grenfell I am definitely leaving a building if possible in a fire situation. I think if it was an active shooter, or bomb situation and I was told to stay where I was by someone in authority that may be different but in a fire situation I am leaving if I can.

I think it’s likely that in a “lockdown” situation we won’t actually know why we’re in lockdown. Is it a shooter or a bomb?

I'm not sure if this was a response to my post but if it was then yes that is what I was trying to say. Lockdown situation stay put. A fire in the building I am in and I currently have a clear way out well I'm getting out.
