Possible SEN support - school

I have a child in year 4 (England) who is being given extra support in spelling, reading and maths. Her yr2 teacher was the school senco and believed my child may have dyslexia. Since then we’ve supported her with tutoring, her reading and comprehension have caught up but her spelling is still behind. The school are reluctant to provide any further senco support (her yr3 teacher asked why I wanted to “label” her.) We are in a tertiary system so next year she’s going to middle school - I’m keen to get an assessment/echo in place if appropriate so she can get formal support in place, such as additional time in exams if required. The school keep fobbing me off and I’d like to push harder but I’ve no idea where to start. Any advice please?

If you wish to apply for an EHCP, you can do that yourself. There are model letters you can use. Have a look at IPSEA and SOSSEN.

There doesn’t have to be a diagnosis, but there must be evidence of need.
