Hi all, just need some advice, other views etc.
long story short, my current tenancy is ending soon (we’ve been in the property for agessssss) and I’m considering not renewing and renting elsewhere. The reasons for not wanting to renew is mainly due to substandard property maintenance (we use a letting agent, yes I know 🥹) and such slow repairs. We’ve got horrible wall/ceiling cracks throughout our property and bits and pieces falling apart - the house is still technically habitable, it’s not like it’s literally falling apart, but the repair issues need to be dealt with as they’re not going to repair themselves or get any better. So, we’ve been looking at other properties and found one that suits our tastes, but it’s slightly more expensive than our current home and the moving fees are just too much for us - it’s not that we can’t do it, but we’re not exactly prepared either. Apart from the irritating repair requests, we’re still using the house and it’s still technically fit for purpose. There’s heating, hot water, the cooker works, lights work, I’m just trying to think of all the essentials…and it all works. Perhaps it’s more of an aesthetics issue? And for all the features (off street parking, large garden, etc) the current rent is pretty good value. Everywhere else is cripplingly expensive. But the idea of a new fresh start elsewhere is also soooo appealing! The agents at the new property are kind of rushing us into sorting out deposits etc and it all seems too good to be true…Sorry for the rant
