Oh dear! Dewi Evans is not coming across well.

Does he ever? Ew, I hope he hasn't been paid for this.

That was shocking at the end from the parents. I haven’t had time to properly process what I just heard but immediately I don’t know why you’d tell a child that whilst they’re still a child, given the families are all protected by anonymity.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who found that a bit shocking.

All of the babies were named in the media early on so I bet most people in their local area would know for sure, better that they find out from the parents rather than from someone in school.

Yes, and if the child had a twin or triplet who died the family wouldn't really want to keep that from them all through their childhood, so it would be hard to avoid having the conversation about what (the parents believed) had happened.

H202too · 13/09/2025 12:54

Agree it would be better to tell the child than drop a big secret when 16-18. When would be the right time? Than let them hear it at school or media.

I think it's one thing to tell a child that you believe their sibling was murdered. It's another to tell a child that a nurse tried to kill them as a baby. Even if you believe that's what happened, why does that child ever need to know? That will mess them up for life for no reason.

Media. They will find out. Or people will tell them.

It coming out when older early teens. Google the internet. It could be damaging. It would be hard to know the right choice. Mayve they were advised by psychs. Unfair to judge them.

How do you think they could possibly ever keep that a secret?!

The child would likely be 9/10 by now. There’s no way to keep such a thing from a child for years, all the way through a really high profile trial etc. Other kids at school may have heard about it, overheard their parents talking about it etc. the parents weren’t anonymised until the trial. Several were in the papers before that.

Firefly1987 · 14/09/2025 00:43

I just remembered one of the surviving siblings was terrified the nurse that killed their sibling was going to come after them 😢
But the parents had no choice, they told their kids the truth and hopefully they're getting a lot of support with coming to terms with what happened to them/their siblings.

EyeLevelStick · 14/09/2025 06:59

Oh you’re back @Firefly1987.

Any chance you could answer my question from thread 4? I asked you why you were referring to the international panel of experts in neonatology and insulin testing as “self-professed”.

Thank you. In case you need context, here’s a link.

OK so you'd choose to lie to your kids for their entire childhood until they were 16 and then suddenly found out online by putting 2+2 together or some other kid told them. Sounds like a much better option for the child's mental health.

You have no idea what the parents think now, after everything that has come out, but I wager they’ve thought about it and examined it all a lot longer and harder than you appear to have done. It’s unlikely that they are all in lock step with each other and it’s even more unlikely that they’re all approving of the true crime fan vultures on Tattle who have no interest in anything except picking over the bones of the alleged crimes for their own ghoulish entertainment.

I'm sure they'd rather people respect the decision they took re their own children instead of making out they were somehow wrong to tell them. How anyone can judge a thing those parents have done after what they've been through is beyond me. I'm just glad at least one set of parents are going to tell their side of the story instead of people trying to guess how they feel. Tattle's actually fairly quiet at the moment.

I don't think there's much of a difference between those things.

To correct my earlier post I believe it was only the babies who died who were named, not the other babies, but then some who did not die had siblings who did so I think maybe 6 or so weren't named but even if they weren't people would have known, if the parents didn't tell them then someone else would have. Or maybe there was older siblings who would have known, that would be a huge secret to have to keep.

It wasn't really a choice, it was a gamble, there's no way they wouldn't have found out at some point.

Let’s start with Dr Shoo Lee. Just 3 links showing his expertise and standing. You think these were made up by McDonald or Shoo Lee himself?
