@FurForksSakethat does sound energy intensive. It sounds bloody lovely though!

Agree! Combines gourmet cooking with strip tease...it would be a ratings winner!

Stressybetty · 19/10/2025 19:11

Worn out, up early bathing pups, cleaning pen and preparing puppy packs. MIL up in the night and restless today. 2 puppy visits today both of which took one home. Fell asleep on settee for 2 hours. Work tomorrow then other litter to vets for vaccine. DH currently making pizza then we're watching a film.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/10/2025 19:37

Gosh @Stressybetty that is a lot for one day! Enjoy your film.

InMySpareTime · 19/10/2025 19:57

Woke up with a slightly crackly chest and a pretty bad headache. Pushed on through church because I haven’t been for weeks now, but had to go home straight after and sleep.
Afternoon, dosed up on painkillers and went out to meet DD for brunch as we haven’t seen her in ages.
Lots of sitting (and slightly spacing out - thanks painkillers!) then came back home and got straight into jammies. It was lovely to see DD though, I try to make time but her work schedule is unpredictable.
Tomorrow is a rest day (whether I like it or not), hopefully the headache will ease off.
I can tune out most of my chronic pain but not headaches, especially if I have to be nice to people as well.

BerfyTigot · 19/10/2025 20:21

@TeaAndStrumpets I didn't go into a shop for nearly 3 years and have only just started having short excursions again. Popping into the shops feels like such a waste of my limited energy.

I did manage a dog walk today, which i an really pleased about.

Did a few bits of tidying and then sat around chatting to my daughter, who came home unexpectedly.

Does anyone else find particular people exhausting?

Really need an early night tonight. Tomorrow i want to have a proper clear up. I've got a free week and want to make the most of it. But am also going to catch up with a friend tomorrow.

I'm beginning to think about Xmas- I haven't had the energy to do much for the past few years, so I want to make a bit more effort this year. But I need to find the right balance so that I don't exhaust myself.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/10/2025 20:41

@BerfyTigot oh that ominous word! Yes it has to be dealt with. I bought my cards the other week and have put them away until next month. I try to get a few token gifts and add money for the adults, but of course the younger ones like something to unwrap. DH has expensive tastes in books, so he's easy. All online!

How lovely to have a daughter visit, both of mine always cheer me up.

@InMySpareTime hope you feel better soon.

This made me laugh out loud! 🤣

I really think I should be put in charge of TV output!

Having seen a trailer for the latest remake of the Forsyte Saga, which looks terrible, I think the only way to save it would be to cast Alexander Dreymon (sp?) as Soames Forsyte and put in as many shirtless scenes as possible.

Otherwise, bring back Time Team.

FurForksSake · 19/10/2025 20:58

Oh gosh, I’d love it if they rebooted time team. At one of my graduations the guy with the fab jumpers was the honorary and did a great speech. That one was Winchester cathedral and was brilliant.

ive eaten too much, very unlike me as I take mj but the lamb (that I flashed) was really nice. I got very uncoordinated during cooking today. Splashing myself, knocking over the pan of carrots, dropping things.

lots of fireworks here.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/10/2025 21:05

@FurForksSake yes they were all great, and such a good team. I went to a talk by Carenza Lewis years ago and it was fascinating. .

I prefer archaeology programmes to the usual history ones, which are so dumbed down, although I do like Lucy Worsley, she's very thorough.

FurForksSake · 19/10/2025 21:09

I love digging for Britain, the one where they dug up random people’s gardens with hugh Dennis, bone detectives (sky channel of some kind) and A House Through Time in particular. The Lucy programme of Agatha Christie was really good. Oh and I love anything about historical agriculture, all of the Ruth Goodman programmes were brilliant. I love an open air museum visit when I can.

I loved the Victorian Farm one. On a similar theme, I wish they'd repeat The Victorian Kitchen Garden because it was so soothing! I tried to get a DVD of it for my daughter who actually does have a Victorian garden, but could only find some bootleg copies on eBay!

Yes the Agatha one was really gripping.

Stressybetty · 19/10/2025 22:13

@FurForksSakejust wondering what creatine and collagen you take? DH was on about us getting creatine powder a few weeks ago but I thought it was more for bodybuilding which is definitely not us! 😂

FurForksSake · 19/10/2025 22:35

https://amzn.eu/d/iJI5RQH I take two capsules, you can take four but that feels like a lot!

https://amzn.eu/d/idk9jbI I use this collagen, apparently you need to take it for a year to definitely see a difference.

Creatine has proven benefits for memory, brain health and maintaining muscle in older adults. It’s one of the most researched supplements. You can get powders but I am a total wimp with anything flavoured so I take it in capsule form. DH finds he is a lot less sore and has more energy after working out when he’s taken it beforehand.

EducatingArti · 19/10/2025 22:38

They are doing a new crowd funded version of Time Team on you tube. I think you have to pay for some of the stuff but some is free too!

Whatarethese1 · 19/10/2025 22:49

Having lots of probiotics. Tablets, plus fermented foods, kefir, etc. Feeling a bit brighter. Had a gut test and mine has really suffered with an injury I had a few years ago that resulted in lots of inflammation including CFS.

Stressybetty · 20/10/2025 00:07

@Whatarethese1yes I take bettervits probiotics, expensive at £30 per month but really suit my stomach/IBS. Still have the occasional IBS flair needing buscopan though.
@FurForksSake thank you will have a look!
Just got told off several times on the replacing duvet thread 😔

Ooh that sounds great, thank you!

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/10/2025 08:38

@Stressybetty gosh the knives are out on that thread. I particularly liked one "sickened" poster who donates her own manky duvet to a women's refuge. So gracious of her.

Stressybetty · 20/10/2025 10:00

@TeaAndStrumpets😂 and the others donating them to stables and driving to launderettes to wash them. After our dogs have been on them for 6 months and flattened them I'd rather have a nice fresh one, pardon me if I'm cluttering the planet with plastics!

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/10/2025 10:06

@Stressybetty don't blame you!

Hotbeverageplease · 20/10/2025 11:00

I dare not add to the duvet thread but it did make me chuckle 😂 We had an old dog with dementia ( passed away 18 months ago) who slept on the bed and at age 17 started to have a few accidents. Her sleeping and being settled was more important than duvets so we just bought 3 cheap and cheerful ones which we washed if needed and rotated. We chucked them all after she passed away and replaced! The mumsnetters would string me up for being so wasteful ( and sharing my bed with a dog) 😂

Stressybetty · 20/10/2025 11:08

@Hotbeverageplease there does seem to be an extraordinary level of vitrol at the moment on here! I saw a thread from a woman asking for recommendations on labradoodle breeders in Scotland. The amount of hate and aggression for non pure bred dogs, breeders and non rescue dogs was unbelievable. Being a breeder myself I didn't dare poke my head above the parapet!

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/10/2025 12:13

Such a lot of frothing over minor stuff on MN at times isn't there?! I wonder if having illnesses we get stuff in perspective a bit more, it can all seem a bit OTT at times can't it?

Still in bed here with my coffee. Still raining. Need to clean up a bit but putting that off.

Had an annoying chat with DH yesterday where he moaned about me 'lying around all the time' I have emailed him a link to stuff from the NHS on ME / CFS symptoms. Maybe I will go on this course and it will have some stuff for partners in there.

Hotbeverageplease · 20/10/2025 12:15

@Stressybetty I can well imagine! I popped onto the Dog House board to see if there were any good tips/ advice when we got our little dog recently and saw several comments about various cross breeds then so I don’t blame you!
It’s such a shame! Personally I love a labradoodle 😊
