Canada with Tweens

We are travelling to Canada next July. Looking for recommendations and ideas, so far we are looking at flying into Toronto but that’s about as far as we’ve got. Would like a mix of city, and countryside/sights, and fun things to do for tween girls.

Canada is perfect for this age, so accessible and friendly, we took our daughter (then 13) to the Rockies, British Colombia - Vancouver and Vancouver Island mainly, two years ago in August. She loved it. We have friends out there so stayed then travelled partly with them, but when we travelled alone we hired a car and I booked accommodation through Airbnb and Booking.com. All very easy as no language barrier and feels safe. Good roads, not too busy once you’re out of the cities. I went to Toronto years ago and it’s like a safer cleaner NYC with great restaurants, museums, shops etc. but also get out into the countryside. We did a few nights in each place which worked well. Top tip: Take packing cubes for clothes if you’re moving on a lot like we did! (Not specific to Canada obviously!).

I would say if you’re outdoorsy, British Colombia and the West Coast are more scenic and interesting than the East Coast.
