How many siblings did you have and how many DC do you have

Just curious really, survey style. How many siblings did you have growing up/what number sibling were you, and how many DC did you end up having or not having? (Or would have liked)

I'm youngest of 3 and have 2 DC and would like a 3rd. I know a few families of 3 where the eldest then stopped at 1DC, the middle stopped at 2 DC and the 3rd had or wanted 3! I'm interested in how kids experience different size family dynamics!

I find this fascinating. In my immediate entourage I see really clear patterns like only children also stopping at 1 DC, and in families of 3 as I said in the OP. But there's so much more diversity as this thread shows. Maybe PP hit the nail on the head that people often either seek replicate the dynamics or completely change them, depending on their childhood experience? (Obviously taking into account that many of us don't get to choose)
I'm early 40s and many of my friends are having 3rd babies now, so I've gone from knowing mostly families with 1 or 2DC to quite suddenly knowing almost as many with 3DC.

5 siblings, no children. Never wanted any and I'm happy to be child free.

i’m one of three, plus one of my sister’s friends who was long term fostered by our family that i count as my sister - so four. and i have four, two boys and two girls. brother and both sisters all have two each, a boy and girl.

interestingly my dad is one of ten and the three daughters all have big families - two have five kids, one has four. then the seven sons all only have one or two, except my dad.

I’m surprised at the number of posters who have lots of siblings. I would understand it more before contraception was widely available.
