Very, very rarely. Bed by 10.30, up at 6.
Late 40s.

But then I don't go as often during the day as some of you are saying you go overnight.

I got 3-4 times a night

TappyGilmore · 06/09/2025 07:26

Usually 5.30. Me and the cat both get up at the same time. Not sure if it’s me waking her up or her waking me up. But I certainly can’t go any longer than that without going to the toilet.

Never/very rarely. If I get up I find it really hard to go back to sleep if i get up out of bed so I avoid it. Sometimes I stir and feel like I need to go for a wee. I try my hardest to go back to sleep and usually do, until my normal waking time of 6.30ish.

Used to be twice a night but since starting HRT and vaginal estrogen only occasionally now and regularly sleep through to 7am

That sounds blissful. I'm usually up about every other night. If I remember to drink plenty of water in the day I don't need a late evening drink and it's obviously better. Awake three times last night but didn't get up as I was sharing a hotel room with DD and the bathroom fan would wake the dead and I wanted her to sleep.

Usually twice a night. Once is a good night.

I've got a small bladder and have always been cursed in this way.

It doesn't usually impact me too much as I tend to fall back to sleep, unless (like at 4am today) the cats think it's play time and decide to jump about the bedroom for an hour.

Hasnt been happening since I started taking magnesium.

Magnesium hasn't made any difference to me. Also I drink lots of water and won't limit fluids to avoid needing to go.
It's at least twice a night and has been since pregnancy 30 years ago. You do learn to do it with one eye shut so you can go straight back to sleep.

I do think it's possible to get into a bad habit of just- in- case wees. This especially if you struggle to get back to sleep.
I remember when the children were small and waking me up and I had work next day, that sense of panic that you might not get back to sleep, or if you do you'll wake up again needing a wee. So you go just in case.

I'm retired now so no children or work to get up for and it takes the pressure off. I wake up naturally every couple of hours but often now I don't go to the bathroom and just turn over.

Usually around 3am then sometimes a little before or a little after, in addition to that. Depends on whether or not I had a drink before bed really.
