I’m in my mid 50s. I don’t get up in the night.

EchoedSilence · 05/09/2025 22:17

I don't.

TubeScreamer · 05/09/2025 22:17

1:30-3 zone

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 05/09/2025 22:24

Every couple of hours, record being 7 times in one night.

You certainly start some random threads @OneUmberJoker!

Like clockwork between 4am and 5am. Trained myself to go back to sleep after

Interested in the ages of those who say never. I'm late 50's

Please tell me how you trained yourself to go back to sleep! I'm awake for two hours, by which time it's almost 7am so my alarm goes off and I feel yuck from being dragged out of sleep.

ItsnotnearlyChristmas · 05/09/2025 22:31

Was a never. Being able to sleep like the dead was my special skill.
Turned 51. menopause. lucky if I sleep for 6 hours. Wee at 4.20am.

Oh my god how do you cope
Do you drink masses of water all day? I couldn’t actually physically pee that often I don’t think.

I'm interested in this too, if it's earlier on in the night I eventually drift off back to sleep but if it's after 4.30am I'm awake until my alarm goes off.

Toseland · 05/09/2025 22:45

Never! But I often have to rush on waking. (Middle-aged!) I'm quite surprised at those people going multiple times a night!

soupyspoon · 05/09/2025 22:46

Hasnt been happening since I started taking magnesium.

Does it matter?

Probably not, the poster is probably just asking out of interest… 😬

FitnessIsTheOnlyWealth · 05/09/2025 22:55

48 and never
in fact I’ve trained myself to not think about it once I am in bed. If I feel a twinge I resist the urge to give in and go back to sleep. Only if I feel like the urge is too great and is waking me then I go - which is perhaps once in a few months (might have had too much to drink that Day)

to those asking how:

  1. my room is warmer than average so needing a wee because of feeling cold never happens
  2. HRT
  3. magnesium tablets
  4. Magnesium cream on my calf muscles
  5. sleep alone as much as possible so no one else can disturb me causing ‘wee’ thoughts
TheChosenTwo · 05/09/2025 22:58

I never do but I don’t actually go to bed/sleep until very late and am always up stupidly early 😭
so possibly if I slept longer than 4.5 hours on a good night I might have to get up and have a wee in the middle!

Blanketpolicy · 05/09/2025 23:01

Used to be twice a night but since starting HRT and vaginal estrogen only occasionally now and regularly sleep through to 7am

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 05/09/2025 23:19

Numerous.. also jealous of the nevers.if get three hours without peeing I'm doing well.

Lurleenlumpkin79 · 05/09/2025 23:25

A couple of times every night but I am 46 and have been this way now since about 40. When I was younger, never. 🥲

Usually around midnight, then 1.30am, then 3.30am, then 5.30am, then 7.30am. Then I give in and get up.

lol ditto

Wow that's an early bedtime!

We’ve always gone to bed that time
I go upstairs around 8, have a shower and go to bed

OneFootAfterTheOther · 06/09/2025 07:15

Never. If i wake in the night i try not to get up to go to the loo on the grounds that is a slippery slope i don’t want to start.

I do most of this and it doesn't make a difference. I've tried 'training' myself not to go, but that just turns into hours of lying awake trying not to wet the bed.

Most nights I end up getting up because I'm very thirsty, because I've not drunk anything for hours, but still been to the toilet 2/3 times.

I tried discussing this with my GP but they didn't seem particularly interested beyond testing for diabetes, which I don't have.

Rubyupbeat · 06/09/2025 07:25

I used to get up every 2 hours, I always slept on my side, but since sleeping on my back, propped up and pillows under my knees (I have severe arthritis in my hips and knees)⁰⁰ , I never ever get up for a wee, but getting up time in the morning my bladder is about to burst.
