Vinted return not refunded

Hi, I've returned an item to the seller after 'raising an issue'. The parcel was damaged by evrie and the seller 'raised an issue'. The seller has been issued with a refund. The sale is now marked as complete and I don't have my refund. Has anyone else been in this situation? I thought the seller would get a refund and the buyer would receive compensation.

Sorry, that second sentence might not be clear. I posted the return to the seller and when they received the return, the parcel and contents were damaged.

The seller needs to raise it with Vinted. Sounds like they already have? The seller will have to share photos of it with Vinted who will decide if you packaged it up appropriately (or not). If Vinted think your packaging wasn’t adequate, they hold you responsible for damage in transit so it will be your loss. If your packaging was sufficient, Vinted will then take it up with Evri.

Yes, the seller has raised it, been refunded and case closed. I sent her photos of how it was packaged - same box it came in etc. It seems Vinted just totally forgot that I was supposed to be refunded and that it was a return. The msg I received was 'enjoy your purchase'

So go back to Vinted and explain. Suggest you tell Vinted that the seller has received the item back but it was damaged in transit so the seller has been paid for it but that you as the buyer don’t have the item because you returned it but you still haven’t been refunded.

If you refer to it as the ‘seller being refunded’ you make it quite confusing. The seller hasn’t been refunded, they have been paid. It’s you who needs refunding.

Vinted will hold you responsible for any damage in transit unless you can prove you packaged it properly, which according to their T&Cs means a box and bubble wrap even for clothing.

That's interesting to know. I've just received a message saying that I didn't package it properly and that's why the funds have been released. I returned it in the same packaging it was sent in. The item was wrapped in strong wallpaper/stiff paper so it was protected and this was placed in a strong box. It didn't move around in the box. I've sent photos that were taken as I was packing it. The photo received from the seller is of the box pretty much flattened - it looks as though an elephant has sat on it. The seller now appears to have the item relisted and it isn't damaged, but I cant prove that it's the same one. She makes the headbands / fascinators herself and it looks as though she has put it back together. This is so frustrating.

@amylou8 thank you for pointing me in the direction of the T&Cs. I was able to prove that the item was packed as per their rules. I've been given a full refund. If I hadn't taken photos I wouldn't have had a leg to stand on. 🙌
