I've put my fluffy slippers on this afternoon and made a casserole.

That's it, isn't it? Summer is over.

Still got shorts on and a vest top here, and been reading a novel in the warm 19-20C sunshine outside. Bit overcast some of the day, but still feels like summer here (North Midlands!) Having an ice cream after my evening meal - salad, and pasta.

Autumn can feck off. It's still summer here, and I am going on holiday in just under 2 weeks. Grin My sunflowers are still blossoming too. And many other flowers in my garden. My Autumn display will be going up on 22 September - the Astronomical Autumn - when we reach the equinox. I'm still heavily in summer mode here! No heating on here. It's 18C at nearly 5pm! It's only September 3rd, it's not late October!

404PageNotFound · 02/09/2025 17:02

My fluffy slippers came out yesterday. Worn with shorts and a t-shirt mind you, I'm not quite ready for autumn just yet.

Wallabyone · 02/09/2025 17:02

Urgh, I’m so sad that summer seems well and truly over. But, I did make a pot of vegetable soup for lunch, with cheesy crumpets, mainly to get some vegetables into my children. The teenager had three bowls, so it worked 😂

MissyB1 · 02/09/2025 17:03

Jeez I would keel over if the heating was on! It’s not going on in this house till mid October!

Doireallywanttodothis · 02/09/2025 17:03

Yep - I lit a fire last night in the south east of England!

YouveGotNoBloodyIdea · 02/09/2025 17:13

I had curry for lunch, left over from last night's dinner (equally chilly) and for the first time in months had to dig out my jacket to walk the dogs.

yep. Summer is over.

Same here. Temperature here is still 18C! Nearly half five in the evening. Gonna be similar all week, (18-20C in the day, and set to reach 22-23C by the weekend.) I don't know where most posters on here live (I live north midlands,) but it seems batshit to put the heating on so early. It was August a couple of days ago!

I lit the wood burner last night, ordered a load of firewood this afternoon and fancied porridge for breakfast. It's Autumn in my head.

I eat porridge all year round 🤣 every day is porridge day!

dodobookends · 02/09/2025 17:34

I have windows open and everything, but also the back door for the cats to go in and out when they please, and it was the draught from that which got me round the ankles.

I got a little upset as it cooled because it is the end of summer. I'm putting away my summer things this weekend and getting out warmer things. I've yet to light autumn candles but they will be next.

I do like autumn but I love warmth.

HarryVanderspeigle · 02/09/2025 17:39

I've had slippers on for a few days, but today I put on sleeves!

BotterMon · 02/09/2025 17:40

I grabbed my fluffy dressing gown out of the wardrobe at 5.30 this morning. Kept flip flops on as feet weren't cold!

Allmarbleslost · 02/09/2025 17:40

I had soup for lunch. Autumn is my favourite time of year but I'm not quite ready for it yet.

TwelvePercent · 02/09/2025 17:41

I'm in shorts to enjoy my bown legs before they fade.... And a fluffy cardigan.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 02/09/2025 17:42

Slippers on, candle on, and made a pie here.

This is the first day the back doors have been closed all day.

BlueandPinkSwan · 02/09/2025 17:42

Made plum crumble with our home grown plums and will have with a dollop of custad tonight. I love autumn😍

Oooh yes! Its nearly candle season!

dodobookends · 02/09/2025 17:46

DH asked me if I knew where his 'mid-season' jumpers were. 😂😂

I don't. His wardrobe remains a mystery to me.

I'm intrigued. What is a mid season jumper? ❓

SingingintheRadiator · 02/09/2025 17:50

Slightly vexed by all the soup comments! I’ve been having soup for lunch every day all through summer!

It was actually unusually nice and sunny here today, but I run cold, so I’m in slippers and an oodie. Got a pecan chai candle on the go too.

If autumn is here, I’m ready for it.

A thin v-necked one from his description of the missing items this morning.

Lovely day here in the west of Scotland. I've just been feeding the lawns wearing shorts and t shirt and it's warm and sunny.

You're definitely not in Dunoon then, it's not shorts weather here! More like wellies and jackets.
