Is M&S fruit nice?

I'm fed up buying fruit that is over ripe almost immediately. I usually go to Tesco or Asda. I never buy M&S due to price, but i really want some decent fruit.

Yes. Costs more but the quality is better than other supermarkets in my experience.

CoastalCalm · 01/09/2025 21:24

Yes it’s very nice and fresher than other supermarkets so lasts longer in my experience - currently eating a punnet of cotton candy grapes

Wildfairy · 01/09/2025 21:27

Yes, I only get that and from Ocado, I really like their mango grapes, cherries and pineapple chunks. Always good and lasts.

Summer24isRubbish · 01/09/2025 21:30

Definitely worth the extra as it’s minimum waste as it lasts longer !

Agree. Cotton Candy grapes are the best ever.

NuffSaidSam · 01/09/2025 21:34

Grapes, Strawberries, Raspberries and Satsumas definitely yes.

I can't really tell the difference with apples, bananas or melon.

Purplecatshopaholic · 01/09/2025 21:38

Yes. Defo worth the money

MrsLizzieDarcy · 01/09/2025 21:41

Their limelon's are to die for, I could eat them until it comes out of my ears. But yes I'd agree that all the fruit and veg is very good quality, and lasts well.

MaryGreenhill · 01/09/2025 21:43

It's excellent

JacknDiane · 01/09/2025 21:48

That's great to know, thanks

Omg aren’t they !!! Crispy green m&s grapes are the best ever.

I think you also notice a difference with the quality of Waitrose fruit.
Tesco grapes are awful.

ZiggyZowie · 01/09/2025 21:59

I love grapes. but every week Asda delivered grapes with white fur in them, I guess mold. The bottom of box they were yucky
Never buy grapes Asda now

So I bought some from marks same price much better quality.
Also co-op was good quality

OnTheBoardwalk · 01/09/2025 22:00

Waitrose fruit is lovely now not an option

Ocado is ok, Tesco is awful. I’ve now gone to Aldi rather than Ocado and M&S. I do think there is a massive difference depending on where your Aldi is

robinsnest1967 · 01/09/2025 22:01

The red grapes are amazing. I eat a whole tub in one sitting.

Beamur · 01/09/2025 22:03

Fabulous oranges and chopped up melon. Expensive but consistently good quality

Avacadoandtoast · 01/09/2025 22:03

YES! Apart from the blueberries, they can still sometimes be soft

Honestly the UK fruit is rubbish but there will be some fantastic fruit on the shelves from South Africa the rest of this year 🫐

RedRiverShore5 · 01/09/2025 22:14

Yes, it is better, I only buy mangos from there as I can rely on them

Absolutely. It's one of the few things I think are worth the premium at M&S. Their pineapple and melon are consistently sweeter, and their grapes are in a league of their own. You really notice the difference.

Their berries especially seem to last days longer than the ones I get from other supermarkets. Worth the extra few pence for them not to go moldy immediately.

RedRiverShore5 · 01/09/2025 22:35

I bought some greengages, they were lovely

Vegalyra · 01/09/2025 22:45

My kids eat their body weight in berries, so I buy them often, usually from Tesco or Waitrose for convenience.

I got a punnet of blueberries from M&S last week and they were much better than the others. Large and sweet, whereas Tesco can be hit and miss. I’ve been asked to stop buying from Lidl as they’re either sour or mouldy. Last time I went to Waitrose I struggled to find a punnet that didn’t have squished berries. So I think M&S takes the top spot.
