4yo DS is starting reception this week. The school and teachers are lovely (eldest DS is there) and he’s made a massive improvement over the summer holidays but I can’t help but feel sooo anxious! I have faith in him of course but I just hope he is understood and he feels happy there.

Anybody else in a similar position or has been that can make me feel less nervous😬

Next 'chapters' in a child's life can be very worrying as a parent (but even more so as an sen parent).
I am at the other end now worried about dc3 just going to sixth form (dc1 has just left uni). My two asd dc both did much better in primary than everyone imagined. I actually think it was the more structured approach after a few weeks they knew what they were doing when.
I also found they needed much more rest so we didn't do any after school activities and the only weekend activities were things they were comfortable with eg trips to grandparents, a familiar park.
Things that were difficult were changes eg special assembly, a trip or none uniform day. I asked the teachers to give me prewarnining where possible and for school trips Id attend.
Good communication is the key I think both with dc and school.
