'Dumb' device for Spotify etc

New year. New school policy. DD aged 11 has to get school mini bus each morning. She has a smartphone to stay in touch with us and also to play music via Spotify. School has just dropped a blanket smartphone ban. We fully support but it's caught us on the hop. So ... do you have any recommendations for a dumb device which can stream Spotify? I can see the Nokia dumb phone but this only allows MP3 files which seems like an enormous faff having to download from a laptop etc. Are there any devices where you can have Spotify that aren't smartphones ...?

Can't she just switch her phone off before leaving the bus and stash it at the very bottom of her bag? They won't know she has it if it never leaves her bag and is never used/seen/heard on school premises.

You need an internet connection to use Spotify, and the Spotify app, so by it's nature it's something that requires a smartphone. Any device that can play music from Spotify is probably going to come under the general umbrella of a smartphone ban.

Can’t she just read a book, stare out of the window? I’m not being facetious, I think it’s an excellent opportunity for mindfulness that very few people have these days!

I’m not sure if there are any as you need internet access to download Spotify (and save playlists) and you also need to go back online every 30 days to maintain your offline access.
