Luxury retirement places

I've watched Thursday Murder Club and Man on the Inside. Do luxury retirement places exist? Do you know anyone who lives or lived in one? Would you recommend the one you know? I'm not wealthy, I'm just curious.

My friends mum lives in one of these. Circa £5k per month! Meals are extra, but fairly reasonable. It’s lovely, but I’m not sure a long term plan as she will run out of money if she carries on the way she is, and then what? She sold her house to move in there.

Oh gosh this sounds terrifying! It's going to be a bit of a downgrade going to live in a cardboard box 😨

Richard Osman said he based it on where his mum lives. St George’s Park, Burgess Hill.

Is it like the ones in these two shows I've mentioned? I guess you don't know your mum's plan, but I'm so curious.

I've spoken to a group of residents at one of these places in Hampshire. Absolutely splendid accommodation, food, grounds and facilities. What the cost must be boggles my mind.

We have one near us. They are owned however not rented. You have to be at least 55 to buy. The flats are lovely and definitely feel luxurious. Also private parking. There are a couple of large communal rooms for coffee mornings etc.

Lads have sprung up where I live, my aunt lives in one. Some owned, some rented. Very fancy but you need ££££

Do they have a Residents Committee? Can imagine tutting about washing being dried, foreigners, car parking, Starmer and how their children want everything now. Bit like MN really. Is there an additional service cost?
