Smart watch for walk/run/walk/run

I’m new to all things fitness but just wondering if there is such a thing as a smartwatch that recognises a change in pace? So if I were doing couch to 5k or something similar where I go for walking to running a few times. I have an old Fitbit atm and it’s not very accurate anyway so I’m looking to upgrade. Any ideas welcome

I did the couch to 5k a couple of years ago and have just got myself a Garmin 265s as I've entered into a half marathon next year 🫣

It's early days but I can programme a workout into my watch which then recognises the difference between eg warm up, running intervals, and a warm down... Is that what you're after?

I fairly successfully just used the couch to 5k NHS app (for verbal instructions) and Strava on my phone to record time & distance etc if that's all you're after... It obviously can't measure heartrate etc like that though

Samsung health does couch to 5k on their app. Not quite sure how it integrates with the watches though.
I didn't have my watch when I tried to do it.

I have a garmin fenix 7 - it recognises when I walk mid run and I can see it when I look back at the activity in the app.

I can also programme it with defined run/walk intervals based on either time or distance.
