Is this normal after a copper coil is inserted?

Hi all,

I had a copper coil fitted on Wednesday. Rest of the day and Thursday was some light spotting and cramps.

Past two days I started having contraction like pain, a horrible wave of pain which literally would take my breath away and then stop. Not bad enough to take any painkillers but still not very nice.

Last night I was extremely bloated and gassy and in the morning when I went to the bathroom I noticed there was a couple of thin metal strings on my pad around 1-2cm. I should have taken a pic but didn’t think at the time. Since then I haven’t had those contraction pains anymore. Is this normal? I will be trying to get an appointment on Monday but would be interested to hear if anyone else has any insight?

It sounds like it's been expelled. You've noticed the strings, but not the iud perhaps.

@smallglassbottle oh dear can a coil fail like that so early on? I haven’t noticed any more metal threads since then, maybe it’s moved internally? Either way I need to get checked out don’t I?

This is horrifying and reminds me of the vagina mesh scandal. Call a doctor op!
