Chipped mug to flowerpot - remove handle

Not sure how else to title this.
I've a mug I really like but it's got chipped and isn't too good to drink from. I was thinking of repurposing it as a flowerpot (I can put a smaller pot inside it),but I really wanted to take the handle off.
Does anyone know if there's a way to do this without breaking the mug?

I'll get DH to have a go. He's quite good at knocking handles off my mugs.😂

Seriously though, no idea. Can you not just turn it so the handle is at the back?

It will only be a cover for a flowerpot though and you'll have to watch out for drainage, as the water won't be able to drain out of the mug. But could you not use the handle to hang it up from somewhere, with a plant inside?

I can only suggest getting a small hacksaw and trying to saw through it

Then you'll have a chipped flower pot.

Just leave the handle on.

I think it would probably be quite hard to remove cleanly without leaving ‘stumps’, and whatever you do will leave scars. So I agree with others probably best to leave it on.

if you really want to try, I’d find out how tilers cut tiles especially those thick edging strips and see if that might work.

Actually, that's a really good idea. I shall see if I can find a hook to use.
