How many times could you wear the same dress or top before it smelled?

I genuinely can’t wear a dress or top twice in summer no matter how much deodorant I put on. I don’t have terribly BO but anything that touches my armpits all day doesn’t smell fresh.

I have to put a tight top underneath the dress to keep it fresh but that often spoils the look if the dress is at all low cut or has short arms or is tight. Even in winter I do this to wear the dress more than a couple of times.

I’m always frustrated there aren’t more tops for sale cut so that they can be used like this without showing - but maybe there aren’t such tops because others do not have to wear them. Do you?

Twice. Three if it was only for a short time each time

😂it’s bizzare, and probably quite telling, that that is where your mind went 😂

I shower every other day or after exercise or my eczema flares up if I do daily. Wear clothes a couple of times but underwear is fresh every day. I’ve never not had a man go down on me and it’s part of foreplay every time so I’m not sure your theory is true, just makes you feel better about yourself 😂

Probably 2 days, possibly 3 for a dress if I've not been very active in it. I do always smell the pits and just get a pleasant whiff of deodorant. Not all deodorant are as effective though, and man-made fibres are the worst.

Two or three days if I wanted to. I'm one of those people who has pretty much non-smelly sweat. It's a genetic thing, apparently. Dd is the same. I also don't sweat much out of my armpits. I do wear anti-perspirant deodorant, but I don't really need to tbh.

Nobody should be wearing these things more than once.

Don't be ridiculous. Who made you the laundry police? Don't you care about how environmentally unfriendly it is? I bet you anti-bac and Zoflora your house to high heaven and use plug-in air fresheners too.

Most things I wear only once before washing. Things like jumpers worn over shirts I will probably wear twice.
Funny you should I say that @TaborlinTheGreat my DH is like you and I’ve always wondered about it. He sweats quite a lot, particularly on holiday but he never, ever smells. He could literally not shower for days and he wouldn’t smell (he doesn’t though, he likes to feel clean!).

I didn't think anyone had dry cleaned work clothes any more. I was everything after every wear. I'd try washing your least favourite work dress and see how it comes out.

This! It would be very rare for me to dry clean something. About half my work wardrobe is dry clean only and they all get lobbed in a normal dark wash.

I wear most tops/dresses once. They don't smell sweaty exactly, after one wear, but they don't smell fresh either. Sometimes I smell food or cooking from my clothes on day 2. Though like others I can get several wears from wool. Cashmere is the only wool I can tolerate and with airing (preferably outside but it doesn't have to be) it's perfectly fresh.

I could wear it several times it will only smell of deodorant I don't tend to smell of body odor

blackheartsgirl · 30/08/2025 14:07

In the summer once.

winter maybe twice but only if I’ve not exercised I. It, even going for a walk in winter I get hot and sweaty
