Help - advice please for tray bakes for local show

What seemed like a good idea several weeks ago after a couple of glasses of wine has now come back to haunt me!

Ive entered the traybake class along with my sister in law and we are having a disagreement as to whether the traybake should be pre cut into slices or the whole uncut bake presented for judging? No info in the schedule.

seems like a very small thing but it’s stressing me out!!

Any village show veterans who can help me out?

Oh and it is strawberry jam or raspberry for a Victoria Sponge?

tia

You describe two firsts as not a complete disaster? Blimey. Were you expecting to sweep the board? I'd consider two firsts a pretty impressive achievement.

I was being tongue in cheek - I’m chuffed to bits with the wins and no I wasn’t expecting anything to be honest! Apologies if I came across as a bit arrogant 😳

Apologies for not picking up on the tongue in cheekedness. Well done.

Fifteens got a mention on GBBO this evening.
Haven't heard of them for 50 years, now twice in the first week!

The scones are Irish buttermilk and so easy! Best tip I was ever given is that when you are cutting out your scones press the cutter straight down and DO NOT TWIST! Twisting binds the sides of your uncooked scones and stops them rising evenly.

Thank you!

No eggs in the scones? I will definitely give them a try! I am ok at the cutting/not twisting method, and the ones that come from the first press of the dough are great. I then bring the dough back together gently to cut more and those ones rise weirdly, and I cut them just as carefully as the first ones! Any tips?

I’ve never been that gentle bringing the dough together again and tend to knead it back into a ball 😳 seems to work though…….
