How do I improve my handwriting?

My handwriting is absolutely terrible. I've started using kids handwriting books to try to help but it's not improving. I have really poor spacial awareness which probably doesn't help. When I slow down it's better but consistency is poor. I've tried different pens etc and I'm slightly better with a fountain pen but it's still not great.

Any recommendations welcome. I really want to sort this.

Maybe try buying a book on calligraphy?

I don't think a calligraphy book will help.

I don't have specific links coz it's just stuff I've seen, so you'll need to Google it, but there are plenty of childrens occupational(?) therapists who advise how to improve childrenx handwriting and a lot seems to depend on find motor skills, hand eye coordination and proprioception etc

There are a few issues that cause messy/illegible handwriting:
Letter formation
Consistency of letter size
and to a lesser extent, grip and seated position, making sure to keep the non-writing hand steadying the paper.
You'd think grip would be more important, but my experience is that people with the weirdest grips can still produce decent handwriting.
You can get basic handwriting books to show correct letter formation and joins, and those will also show the correct sizing of letters relative to each other.
