Best sandy beaches Norfolk

Hi all. I’ve moved east of London for the first time and keen for advice on the best sandy beaches between Ipswich and Norfolk (the closer to Ipswich the better). We have two dc so a toddler and would be looking to stay for a few days. So ideally somewhere with a small town, accommodation near the beach, and easy to access the beach. If this exists this way. Sorry I don’t know the beaches this way at all!!

We’ve tried whistable and Leigh on sea which are both great but we’d love a sandy place.

Southwold springs to mind. Southwold is lovely, you can also hop on the foot ferry and pop across to Walberswick.

Felixstowe beach isn't too bad either although there are more pebbly areas in places.

We love Old Hunstanton beach and the cafe there is brilliant. The Lodge in old Hunstanton is walking distance to beach (even for a toddler) and we’ve stayed in their family rooms before. Lovely pub hotel and restaurant .

Brancaster is also lovely and vast!

Another vote for Felixstowe. Southwold is nice, too.

Southwold, definitely. Sandy beach, pier, easy access from town to beach, good fish and chips, ice creams, pubs...what more would you want? (I don't work for the tourist board but we do have family there and had our best times there when the dc were little)

We love Wells-next-the-Sea

Brancaster, Wells and Hunstanton are all the best part of 2 hours from Ipswich!
