Feel awful on Magnesium?

Just that really.

very long story short. Perimenopausal, horrible anxiety, not sleeping well. Lots of research told me Magnesium Glycinate was what I needed.

Chose nutrition geeks 3 in 1 and took my first dose before bed (after a 13 hour day shift and was exhausted). Well, I stayed awake until
3am and felt horrible! Anxiety so much worse.

Had a couple of days off and tried again today. Took earlier in the day (2pm) and my anxiety is through the roof! I’ll probably just bin them but has anyone else felt like this? I am so disappointed ☹️

My doctor told me some people respond like this (including me, I have awful dreams and awful sleep) and to just take it in the morning instead (if you need it)

Does anyone notice shortness of breath when taking magnesium? Trying to figure out if it's due to that or just anxiety in general. I know the mag does give me all sorts of other symptoms. Glycinate was the worst-insomnia, low mood, aches and pains, headache, pressure in my ears-ugh awful! And yet most people find it amazing. The only thing it helped with was heart palpitations I was getting because I overdid vitamin D and depleted my magnesium stores. But I just think I can't tolerate it now, even a small amount affects me.

I have been taking this on and off for a while but reading this thread a lot of this is ringing true for me, I spent today feeling anxious and unable to concentrate on my work after taking this supplement for 2 nights!

I use Healthy Metal but I only take it every other evening because I think it affects my stomach as well (especially if I take it on the same day as iron). So I spread out my supplements over the week and don't take more than one of anything on a given day. it is 250mg.

I was taking magnesium but have stopped as I just don’t think it did anything.

I did also discover that taking vit d tablets before bed is not a good idea - makes sense when you think about as the vit d affects melatonin production. I was awake for hours!
