Mum and teen daughter - Barcelona recommendations

My daughter and I have a day in Barcelona tomorrow as my husband and son are visiting the Nou Camp. Can anyone recommend good things to do with a 13 year old? We’re coming into Barcelona Sants on the train. We thought we might do the hop on bus to cover all the key sights in a short time. We also like clothes shopping if there are streets/malls to recommend.

I hope your DH and DS know that Nou Camp is closed for renovations until next year, the hop on bus goes past it and stops at the entrance, but you cannot do tours just take a look at the construction site.

What sort of shopping do you like - second-hand/vintage, independent boutiques, high street, designer?
What sort of food might you like to eat? If you'd like paella a good place is a small chain of three locations called Arrosseria Xativa. Really nice non-touristy paella restaurants with good allergy/gluten free info. I'd recommend booking, you can online. If you'd like a more informal light lunch or snack another great chain is Buenas Migas, topped focaccia, salads, cakes, a good cup of tea or coffee.
The Sagrada Familia is great to see even just from outside.
Montjuic going on cable cars is fun and great views, you could also get cable car down to Barceloneta and combine with a bit of beach time.

Thanks for the ideas so far.
Yes, my husband/son know it’s a construction site, they’re going to do the museum etc.
we’re after more high street than vintage in terms of shopping.

For high street shopping probably the best area is just near the main square - Plaza de Cataluña. Either just at the beginning of Passeig de Gracia - very large Zara, Uniqlo, H&M. Or just down Portal d'Angel (also off Plaza de Cataluña, paralel to the Ramblas) where there are lots of high street chain stores.
Have a great time! It's still very warm but not quite as scorching as earlier on in the summer.

Sorry it's a bit of a rainy day for you, bad luck! Hope you enjoy your day anyway
