Ds9 going to sleep

Help! My ds9 has never been a good sleeper, he naturally stays up late then wakes around 8am. Summer holidays have made the night times later but he doesn't sleep in any later. Thinking of getting back into routine next week. But even if we do he struggles to go to sleep, so he can stay upstairs but is reading, making comics etc or just bored. Then I have to wake him for school every morning and feel he's tired. Any suggestions?
He doesn't have screen at night, we do story sometimes or he reads.

I was like that as a child and still have trouble falling asleep now. You cannot make someone sleep. As long as he’s in bed and getting some rest that way I’d say that’s fine. Get the routine back in place asap for school. Tired in the morning doesn’t mean he can’t function.

Have you tried listening to audiobooks in bed as a way of winding down to sleep? With the light off, obviously.

Yes from Thursday we're in back to school mode!

My ds who's just turned 10 listens to audio books or a meditation story from Mrs honeybee or Captain EJ. They're on YouTube and work wonders.
