Where are people buying good quality sofas from?

My beloved but ancient sofa.com sofa needs replacing. Their quality is shocking lately so I need one similar from somewhere else.

I don’t even know where to start. I haven’t bought a sofa from anywhere else for at least 10 years…! 😳

We had one made for us, we still have the matching chair but decided we wanted a recliner so bought a Parker Knoll.

I really rate Sofas and Stuff. Small chain, but they do have showrooms around. You can customise according to your needs, but you do pay for it.

We have two of their sofas and the quality is excellent. They are super spendy full price but <whispers> discovered their well-stocked clearance section and checked regularly for the colour and style that we wanted

All our sofas are from John Lewis, and are at least 20 years old.

We got an excellent sofa from Sofology. Had it over a year now and can’t fault it at all. I don’t think it’s the cheapest shop - we got a large corner sofa and it was just over £2000.

I recently replaced a Parker Knoll with a dfs Sydney ,i paid extra for firm seat pads .
I am very pleased as i didn't expect this but i think it is as sturdy as the Parker Knoll.

This is a really great company. After a horrific online sofabed order (we returned it), we were really careful about our next choice and are very pleased with the quality of the one we got here. Because we live miles away they did a video of it in the store for us, showing how it unfolded etc, and added some extras free e.g. Staingard.

@Autumnlife: please could you share the name of this company? Thanks

Whereabouts in the uk are you no point telling you the name if it’s not even nearby to you.

Ikeameatballs · 24/08/2025 16:33

I’ve just had a 10 year old Barker and Stonehouse one recovered. We looked ++ and couldn’t find one we both love. I’m delighted with it!

Greenwitchart · 24/08/2025 16:35

I got mine from John Lewis. I have had it for 16 years and I still like it/find it comfortable.

My cats have scratched one side of it though but there is little point in getting a new one as they will only do the same thing again!

Thanks so much everyone! I’m away at the moment. My signal is terrible, but I’m making my way through all of your suggestions and I do appreciate them.

I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend Sofas & Stuff. Such a shame as I like the company and their style but it was an expensive mistake. We’ve had our two sofas for three years and they have worn badly and are so uncomfortable. Having to plump up the sofa seat and back cushions every time we sit on them. The frame creaks. Shocking quality. Our 25 year old sofas are in much better conditioned. Unfortunately that sofa company no longer exists otherwise we would have purchased from them.

Would they not honour their lifetime guarantee?
