Public Information Film

My dh who is the same age as me tells me he remembers a Public Information Film in the seventies telling men not to get drunk and go home and molest their wives. I’ve told him me must’ve dreamt it-while I remember lots of public information films at that time, I can’t imagine that mainstream tv would be telling men not to grope their wives when drunk. Can anyone of that age remember anything like this? All I remember id
s crossing the road and learning how to swim.

Could be the 'Everybody likes a drink. Nobody likes a drunk. ' campaign was the first of three different attempts to educate the public about the dangers of alcohol that took place between 1974 and 1981.

  • Or ’It’s always the boozer who is the loser’ (1977–79):
  • This follow-up campaign built on the first, developing new visual and audio-visual materials, including television "playlets".

Perhaps 'molest' in this context means 'don't go home and beat her up'.

Quite possible. I swear I remember one about not leaving your children home alone to go to the pub, incase the house goes on fire!
