Half a day really, by the time we arrive and then go off to an event in the evening.

2 adults from the country on a day out.

Where in London? Ealing or Stratford? Central or outskirts? Timings? What do you like doing?

clary · 22/08/2025 00:36

National Gallery – Leonardo, Michelangelo, fabulous Impressionists, Wilton Diptych

National Portrait Gallery (newly revamped IIRC) - Jane Austen, all the kings and queens, Shakespeare and the Brontes

Walk through the city and spot Wren churches amid the skyscrapers

The V and A museum - but I have a thing for china

PornOfCopia · 22/08/2025 00:38

Where is the event/where are you staying?

Zipzaps · 22/08/2025 00:40

We're just there for the day. The event's in Battersea at 7pm.

Right so you get into X at X time and you enjoy x?

Any other clues op?

Do you need to eat or running on fumes?

Bigroundhead · 22/08/2025 00:47

V&A is a bus ride which would be easy. Do you like museums?
Or prefer art? I'd see an exhibition at the NPG.

pizzaHeart · 22/08/2025 00:48

Where would I arrive? Do I have any luggage?

biggestcatmom · 22/08/2025 00:51

The Tower of London

tinyspiny · 22/08/2025 00:53

I’d do the Tower of London at the moment to see the poppies .

MuddlerInLaw · 22/08/2025 00:59

It’s just too vague, @Zipzaps - we don’t know how or where you’re arriving, where you've already been, whether you want indoor or outdoor activities, how much you want to spend, your respective levels of energy / mobility … Do you want to see cricket grounds or tapestries, Borough Market or St Paul’s Cathedral?

TranceNation · 22/08/2025 01:00

The London Eye is always my first go to every time. Then I'd go to either Greenwich or Camden.

EBearhug · 22/08/2025 01:01

What about a hop-on hop-off tour bus?

It all depends on if you're new to London and what things interest you.

5andals · 22/08/2025 01:13

Start at the museums in West Kensington, pick one, stay an hour. Catch the bus down to Kings Road for lunch/ snack/ people watching/ swanky shops and then onto Battersea for your Do.

Book a viewing platform in the city (Sky Garden, Horizon 22 or The Lookout). Some release the free tickets a month in advance and are popular but I believe walk ins are possible but check websites. Then DLR train from Bank to Royal Victoria station. Cable car across the Thames to the O2. Then Uber boat from the O2 down to Battersea. See loads of sites but without having to go in them and a good whistle stop tour of London!

Or In the Hidden City do quite good interactive treasure hunts around various locations in London. Usually take 3-4 hours or more if stopping for drinks or food. A good way to explore an area and find some hidden gems too. The Enchanted Mirror around South Kensington was my favourite. Done a couple of the others but not the James Bond one . . .

echt · 22/08/2025 03:15

The Wallace Collection, the V&A, the Horniman Museum.

SoSoPredictable · 22/08/2025 04:58

Battersea by 7pm and I'm making an assumption you're travelling up in the morning by train. I'd do lunch in Covent Garden/Soho, then walk to Embankment to get the Uber boat up the Thames to Battersea. If you arrive relatively early, I'd put the National Gallery in before lunch.
I'd get a booking into Tower 109 around 5ish, so you have time to enjoy that, then freshen up/maybe a coffee or quick drink (depending on the event).

Theyreeatingthedogs · 22/08/2025 07:14

If I wanted to relax I'd spend the afternoon in the National Gallery. I always want to go there when in London.
