Will a GP test for high cortisol?

The more I see online, the more I feel like my symptoms are caused by high cortisol levels, of course they could be several other things too but I have had all kinds of blood tests before and nothing shows up so I'm wondering if cortisol is the answer. Does anyone know if there is a blood test a GP can request for this and is there away to manage it if that is the issue?

My GP was going to, but I had to get to a hospital really early in the morning for it. I think they have to do cortisol within so long of walking for accurate results. I couldn’t make it due to work, so I did one with a company called Forth. Not too expensive and quick results.

So long after waking not walking…

They may try a 48hr urine test first but yes they do these tests.

It’s normally a specialist test taken around 8am due to the natural movement in levels throughout the day and 8am is when is should be its highest. Might be hard to get a referral for one so private may be easier if an option for you.

My GP did. I had to go at 9am in the morning.

What happens if you have high cortisol? Can you have low cortisol?

I've recently had my cortisol tested; blood test and had to be before 10am.

Thank you, that is really helpful. I didn't want to make a fool of myself! Those who have had it tested - was it high?
