Passport applications

I have applied for two adult renewals and these have been dispatched today.
I also applied for:
1 child renewal
2 child first passports

I enclosed:
adult old passports,
child old passport,
birth certificate for all three children (they asked for just the new children but I enclosed all three just in case).

All in one envelope as per the guidelines. Signed delivery.
I enclosed a cover note a list of names, all application numbers and docs enclosed per person. To make it easier for them.

Unrelated Adult has approved all three children and that’s confirmed by passport office as received.

Today it shows:
Child renewal- The tracker says they have received the documents on the 7th.

Since the 7th we had a message asking to prove parental responsibility for the child renewal. They have the birth certificate. They confirmed receipt of documents so is this likely to be just a standard message?

Childrens first passport. Both show as awaiting documents. Could this be because the department is behind?

Does anyone have any idea if this sounds normal? I don’t have anything booked yet but was hoping to book for October so am keen to get them back.

If you can then I’d call them and ask.

A few years ago I sent an adult renewal and 2 child first passports in together and was eventually asked to send the adult passport- which they had to have because they had the other documents and had issued passports based on them. It turned out that someone had linked the adult (female) passport to the application for the 2 year old male child’s first passport.

I had to write and send by post a letter explaining what they’d done (which is very hard to do politely when it’s such a stupid thing which really shouldn’t need a letter sort!!)

Finding their number is proving tricky. It just did a tracking update earlier. I will look properly later. My passport arrives tomorrow.

So it took a couple of weeks from receipt of the old one if anyone else is awaiting theirs.

I am guessing it’s been messed up. It’s frustrating as i included a very basic bullet point letter with reference numbers and lists of documents enclosed per person. Very little thinking was required.
