How many towels do you have?

Just that, really! We are a family of four, DH and I still have our towels from our pre-children days. We have a total of four bath towels, four small hand towels for next to the tap, and maybe 6-8 flannels (leftover from baby days, gradually migrate to cleaning duty when they get worn). Seems like it should be enough but if it’s washing day we’re a bit short and use our beach towels after a bath/shower.

I’m thinking of replacing/adding some, so I’m wondering how many towels per person do you have, and what are your favourite towels? Our large are from ikea and I’ve been happy with the quality, 12 years in they’re only beginning to fray a bit on the edges and have stayed thick and absorbent. We have two small hand towels from M&S that have also held up reasonably well but seem a bit lighter/thinner than the ikea ones.

Far too many.
family of 3 but dd is grown up and moved out and has some of her own.
3 big swimming towels, 3 extra big towels DH bought when we were on holiday once for reasons that made sense to him at the time. 4 bath sheets, lots more regular towels and hand towels. These have been bought over the years, some to match bathrooms/cloakrooms. Quite a few when we lived in the us where they were cheap for good quality cotton, some nice ones inherited from the ils. A basketful of flannels -one a day. And a large tub of ‘dog towels’ - we don’t have a dog any more, alas but they’re useful for cleaning up spills etc.

if we ever downsize we’ll need to get rid of some, fortunately we’ve got a huge cupboard on the landing.

Who knows, it's a right mish mash of older and newer towels, the older ones gradually being wrecked by the teens acne facewash. Every time we have guests I seem short of towels and buy some more. Problem is my kids swim lots so they get through all the swimming towels and beach towels and regularly leave them in heaps or bags till they stink and then they begin using bath towels. I suspect life might be easier if I had fewer towels to be honest. Everyone had one bath towel, one hand towel and one beach towel. Maybe they would hang them up and re use more often....I trial it and hide some in the loft.

Live alone - 4 bath towels and 6 hand towels. I change the hand towels every 2 or 3 days and wash towels once a fortnight.

Loads. Kids had new ones for uni, then brought them home and left them. Towels from clearing out parents’ houses.

We have dogs, so extra towels are always handy.

Very few of them match 😁.
