Scheduled send on emails

Forgive me, I am a complete dinosaur

Can anyone knowledgeable help me? If I set an email to be sent at 8am via schedule send, which I have written at 4pm the day before (for example), can the recipient tell that it was scheduled rather than having been written and immediately sent at 8am?

ie if I know I'm going to be late starting one morning, so schedule a load of outgoing emails, will my boss know I started late and wasn't diligently emailing at my allotted start time??

I use Outlook for this and as far as I know people can't tell. I set them to send at an odd minute rather than on an hour or half hour to make it look more natural - so 0907 not 0900.

No your boss won't know, but I suspect when people have scheduled morning emails as they arrive at 7:00am and not 7:07 or 7:32 etc.

Your IT dept will be able to find out if anyone asks though.

On outlook, it shows the time it was scheduled for but, like PP suggests, I would always do it for an odd time. If I get an email at 8am or 9am on the dot, I always assume it’s a scheduled send.

Do you have to be logged on for them to be sent? Ie computer up and running with internet on?

Nope. It will just send them at the right time.

I know they are scheduled when I get multiple emails from the same person at 8am.

No it's from the outlook application, rather than your individual PC.

Do you have Teams OP and would your boss see that you are not logged in?

Whilst I know they’re supposed to be automatically sent at the relevant time regardless of whether you are logged on or not, mine would only actually send if I was logged on. Which slightly defeated the point.

We do have Teams but only need to log on for meetings so I don't think that would matter

Our scheduled send in Outlook doesn’t actually send unless you have Outlook open & running. It will send at the correct time if you’re logged in, otherwise if passed the scheduled send time, it will then bulk send the next time you open Outlook.

Scheduled send works on Outlook and Google without it being open at the scheduled time and the recipient can’t tell.

Why not to tell your manager you're going to start late? assuming it's not a regular occurrence.
A lot of businesses have monitoring software which can tell if you're present or not.

I think how the scheduled send on outlook works depends on which version of outlook you use.
